Because he longs for blessing, because he knows obedience is the path to it, he clings to every word that comes from God. He is a stranger in a foreign land and he cannot find his way without God’s help. And so he cries out that God himself might instruct him in the way he should go.

Who can teach me but you, the God who created me?

Your hands have made me and fashioned me;
give me understanding that I may learn your commandments.
~ Psalm 119:73

I want you to teach me more than about your ways, I want to know them, personally, by experience — because that is the path to blessing.

Teach me, O LORD, the way of your statues;
and I will keep it to the end.
Give me understanding, that I may keep your law
and observe it with my whole heart.
~ verses 33 & 34

I do not turn aside from your rules,
for you have taught me.
~ verse 102

I am inclined towards arrogance, only you can teach me to walk your path of considering others better than myself.

My way is to be easily angered when people wrong me, I need to know your way of forgiveness.
